Agave Margarita
The Agave Margarita, a cocktail rooted in simplicity and elegance, epitomizes the essence of Mexico's beloved agave plant. This classic concoction, a testament to the harmony of a few quality ingredients, captures the spirit of both tradition and modern mixology. Here, we present a recipe that celebrates the purity of tequila, the zesty tang of fresh lime juice, and the gentle sweetness of agave nectar, resulting in a Margarita that's refreshingly crisp and naturally delightful. Whether you're lounging poolside, hosting a fiesta, or simply unwinding after a long day, the Agave Margarita is a versatile, timeless libation that never fails to satisfy.
Ingredients
- 4 oz Reposado Tequila
- 2 oz Lime Juice
- 2 oz Agave Nectar
Instructions
- Prepare Your Glass: If you prefer a salted rim, moisten the rim of a rocks or old-fashioned glass with a lime wedge. Dip the moistened rim into a shallow plate of salt to coat it lightly.
- Fill the Glass with Ice: Add ice cubes to the prepared glass. You can fill it to your preference, but a typical Margarita glass is about 2/3 full of ice.
- Measure and Add Tequila: Using a jigger or measuring glass, measure 2 ounces (60 ml) of 100% agave tequila. Pour the tequila over the ice in the glass.
- Squeeze Fresh Lime Juice: Roll a lime on the countertop to release its juices. Cut the lime in half, and using a juicer or your hand, squeeze 1 ounce (30 ml) of fresh lime juice.
- Add Lime Juice to the Glass: Pour the freshly squeezed lime juice into the glass.
- Sweeten with Agave Nectar: Measure 0.5 ounces (15 ml) of agave nectar, which is used to sweeten the Agave Margarita. Pour the agave nectar into the glass.
- Shake with Ice: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour the Margarita mixture from the glass into the shaker. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until the mixture is well-chilled and frothy.
- Strain and Garnish: Using a strainer, strain the shaken Margarita back into the prepared glass filled with ice. If desired, garnish your Agave Margarita with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim of the glass.
